In this lesson, students will learn about thermal conductors and insulators. They will learn what materials are thermally conductive and how they are used to help us e.g. radiators. They will look at how the particles behave in thermally conductive materials and using a thermocolour sheet will carry out tests on various materials.
They will also learn about thermal insulators and again will look at how they are used to help us e.g. flasks. They will plan and carry out an experiment testing which material is best to use to insulate hot water and, using the experiment proforma sheet, will record their results and analyse their findings.

A mechanism is a device which takes an input motion or force, and outputs a different motion and force.
In this lesson, students will learn about different mechanisms such as pulleys, gears and levers. They will see how each works in everyday life and learn the science behind them. They will be asked to identify which mechanism from the images and will complete a quiz mid-way through to check understanding.
They will then carry out an experiment creating their own levers before designing their own machines using what they have learnt. The activity sheets are provided which guide them through this process.

In this lesson, students will learn about the adolescence stage of the human life cycle. They will learn that puberty is the process of a child’s body maturing into an adult body. They will learn about the different changes that boys and girls can expect and will then be quizzed on this new knowledge. An optional video link is also included to support understanding. In this lesson, students will learn all about what happens in the womb during gestation. They will learn about fertilisation and how the foetus develops in the womb. They will look at each month of pregnancy specifically, understanding key developments and comparing to the size of a fruit or vegetable for easy understanding! Electricity is a type of energy that can build up in one place or flow from one place to another. Electricity is the flow of electrons.
In this lesson, students will learn what electricity is and how it is measured. They will learn about electrical circuits- looking at the symbols for electrical components as well as how to draw circuits. They will design and construct circuits both manually and using online platforms, as well as repairing circuits which have problems.
By the end of the lesson, students will understand how an electrical current travels around a circuit and how electrical components work.

Microorganisms are small organisms invisible to the naked eye because of their extremely small size. They are grouped into various groups like Bacteria, fungi, algae, protozoa and viruses. Many of these organisms are useful to human and nature while some are harmful and even cause diseases.
In this lesson, students will learn about the 5 different types of microorganisms: fungi, bacteria, algae, viruses and protozoa. They will watch videos which explain their dangers but also their uses and they will tasked to determine which is helpful and harmful from the examples given.
Following this, they will carry out an experiment looking at the conditions which cause mould to grow on bread. The experiment investigation sheet is provided.

In this lesson, students will learn that there are two types of reproduction in plants: sexual and asexual. They will learn about the life cycle of plants that reproduce sexually looking at pollination, fertilisation, seed dispersal and germination. They will also learn the different parts of flowering plants and will dissect a flowering plant using the guide to help them.
They will then look at asexual reproduction in plants through tubers, runners and bulbs. They will consider the advantages and disadvantages with both.
